What happens to the documents you send us
You are about to hand over a hundred pages about your own home. Here is what actually happens to them, including the two things we have not settled. We would rather tell you which parts are undecided than write you a paragraph of reassurance.
Where they go
Onto a disk on our own server. Not a third-party document store, not a cloud drive, and not an email inbox. Your archive arrives as one file, is expanded into a folder of its own, and the archive itself is then deleted, so the only archives on the machine at any moment are the ones currently arriving.
If an upload fails halfway
Its remains are swept automatically within the hour. That is a real mechanism rather than an intention: it exists because uploads that died in flight used to leave their bytes behind, and 775 MB of them accumulated before anyone noticed.
How long we keep them
Not settled. Today nothing deletes the documents belonging to a finished report, which means the honest answer is that they stay until somebody removes them by hand.
That is not a policy, it is the absence of one, and it is the kind of thing this service exists to point at rather than to hide. A retention period will be set and this page will state it in days, and it will be set before anyone is asked to pay for anything.
Who can see them
Not settled. The separation between one person’s documents and another’s is being built, and until it is finished and this page can describe it in specifics, the service is not open for general use. When it is, this section will say exactly who can reach what, and you will be able to check the claim against how the thing behaves.
Whether we use them to improve the service
No. Your documents are read to produce your report and for nothing else. They are not used as training material, and they are not pooled into a dataset. If that ever changes it will be with your agreement, asked for plainly, and not through an update to a page like this one.
What we would do if somebody asked us for them
If served with a valid legal order we would comply, because refusing is not an option available to us. We would tell you it had happened unless we were forbidden from doing so. We will not hand your documents to an agent, a lender, a brokerage or anyone else in the transaction on request, and nobody in it is a customer of ours.
Why this page is written like this
Two of the answers above say “not settled”. Every other service in this category would have written a confident paragraph in both places, and you would have had no way to tell the difference. Stating what we have not decided yet is the same habit as saying what the report cannot tell you: it is the only claim either of us can actually check.
